Getting started – 5 Top Tips
The Volunteer Bureau will be able to tell you what voluntary work is available locally and will be able to put you in touch with local organisations.
They will also be able to answer any queries that you have about volunteering.
Below are some hints to get you started:
Think about what you want from volunteering – new skills, a chance to contribute to a good cause , a chance to meet new people.
- Think about what you have to offer – enthusiasm, work skills, life skills.
- Work out how much time you have to give each week/month.
- Remember that everyone can volunteer – whatever your skills, experience the Volunteer Bureau should be able to help you find a placement.
- Try it! The most difficult part about volunteering is making the first move.
