Voluntary Action Centre

We're based at the Voluntary Action Centre in Pontmorlais, Merthyr Tydfil. The administration team consist of Carol Hindley (Admin & Finance Manager) and Frances Barry (Administration Assistant). The team provides admin support for voluntary groups within the Merthyr Tydfil Borough, including services such as photocopying, laminating and binding documents. The team also provide computer-based assistance in order to design a range of information including posters, leaflets, pamphlets and tickets for groups. All these services will be provided at a reduced rate for our member groups. Originally built as a chapel at the turn of the last century, the building was last used as Merthyr Tydfil Institute for the Blind's retail outlet and manufacturing facility.

The building

had not been used for several years when Merthyr Tydfil Borough Council, the building's owners, asked VAMT if it was feasible to create a building in which to house local voluntary organisations. A consortium bid was submitted to the National Lottery Charities Board , who provided over £500,000, to completely refurbish the building, along with £85,000 from the Welsh Development Agency.
